today was one of the best valentine’s days that I haven’t celebrated - does that make sense?
I’m single this year and while I’m sure I loved my valentine’s last year, too (or maybe I didn’t - who remembers?) I really loved it this year. everyone on campus seemed so happy and there was happy music, flowers, and chocolates everywhere - and at some places, even free condom + gum gift packages. those are both expensive things, my friends!
anyway, so realizations that were key to my happiness today:
- it’s the company, not the activity, that makes you happy. I studied all day with one of my lovely friends and she just brightened the whole day up :)
- I have the cutest mom in the world. fairly valentine’s day irrelevant fact but still true.
- sushi and chocolate will make anyone happy, anytime. perhaps not simultaneously. or maybe even so. it’s sushi and chocolate - there are no wrongs.
- doing something for others will make you way happier than things you do for yourself - i.e. buying your friend a flower, or saving her your free piece of chocolate.
- everyone loves hugs. not even the grumpiest person on valentine’s day could say that a hug would be bad to receive.
- keep your head up and the rest will follow.
other miscellaneous fun things:
- whether you think you can or you can’t, you’re right
- love yourself first
- be kind
- be grateful
- when you’re at the worst of times, take a deep breath and look around you. if it’s the worst, just think it can only get better. and if it’s not the worst, what are you complaining about?;)
I am way too happy for my own good. I hope everyone - singles and couples alike - had a wonderful TUESDAY. All the love I witnessed today really needs to happen on a more daily basis!
